RoHS is the European directive on Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (European Directive 2011/65/EU) in electrical and electronic equipment. Any RoHS compliant component is tested for the presence of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent chromium (Cr VI), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
The given maximum concentration values tolerated by weight in homogeneous materials:
- Lead (Pb): < 1000 ppm
- Mercury (Hg): < 1000 ppm
- Cadmium (Cd): < 100 ppm
- Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI): < 1000 ppm
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): < 1000 ppm
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): < 1000 ppm
